| This field course is
offered every summer in July (usually during the third or fourth week). The 5-day
session begins on a Sunday afternoon and ends the following Friday at noon.
The course focuses on the interrelationships of living organisms and their environment. Many of the activities involve field trips to diverse habitats, including wetlands, Hartwick Pines State Park, Jack pine ecology and the Kirtland Warbler, and a canoe trip down the Au Sable River. In-class activities focus on inquiry and development of curricula that can be used with students in elementary, middle, or high school. Students also have the opportunity to discuss environmental issues with a variety of resource persons and get certified in Project Wild and Project Aquatic.
