The following is a list of influential people that can be tied into general language arts curriculum, and may also incorporate LGBTQ inclusive instruction. These people or events are tied into LGBTQ curriculum  because they are LGBTQ in orientation, or have influenced modern thought on the inclusion of such minorities. This list is just a beginning.

Sappho - 6th c. Greek lesbian poet, authoring lesbian-positive pieces
Ronald Firbank - early 20th c. gay author focusing on GLBT equality
Oscar Wilde - witty 19th c. poet & author, prosecuted for homosexual acts
E.M. Forster - gay author of positive gay love story in early 20th c.
Walt Whitman - gay 19th c. poet & author known for sensitive tone
Marcel Proust - influential 19th c. gay French author whose message is affirmation of life
Gertrude Stein - early 20th c. avante garde lesbian author, known as a fascist
Alice Toklas - early 20th c. avante garde author, life-long partner of Gertrude Stein
Virginia Woolf - influential and well-respected 19th & 20th c. bi-sexual author
T.E. Lawrence - gay 19th & 20th c. author of Lawrence of Arabia
Tennessee Williams - early 20th c. gay author, playwrite, & Pulitzer Prize winner
Langston Hughes - early 20th c. gay black author, poet, & playwrite
