Dr.Bath
began her education in public school in Harlem. She
became a noted eye surgeon, the first African-American woman surgeon at
the UCLA Medical Center,professor
of opthalmology at UCLA's Jules Stein Eye Institute, and a
founder of the American Institute for the Prevention of Blindness. She
invented the Laserphaco Probe for the treatment of cataracts.
