B.S. Elementary Education 1963

M.ED Elementary Education/Early Childhood Education 1967

ED.D Curriculum and Instruction/Early Childhood Education 1976

Background:

Dr. Elliott has a long history at WSU. From 1964-1989 she served first as a teacher and then Director of the College of Education Early Childhood Center. During that period of time she also served for 5 years as the Grievance Coordinator for AAUP (American Association of University Professors).

From 1989 until 2005 Dr. Elliott was Assistant Dean of Teacher Education. She returned to the faculty in July, 2005.

Present Activities:

At the present time Dr. Elliott is teaching ED 7999, Terminal Masters Seminar and Project, for elementary and early childhood students. She also serves as the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) College of Education Re-accreditation Co-Chair (with Dr. Gerald Oglan).

One of Dr. Elliott's long-standing foci is developing and supporting programs designed to increase the numbers of teachers from minority and other underrepresented groups. These programs came under the umbrella title of “Pathways to Teaching”. This includes the Limited License to Instruct program, a 5 year partnerships with WSU, Detroit Public Schools, and the Michigan Department of Education in collaboration with the Detroit Federation of Teachers.
