Holly received a master's degree in art therapy from Wright State University, Dayton, Ohio. She earned her Ph.D. in adult education at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Holly has been a practicing art therapist since 1979.

She specializes in working with adult psychiatric patients, closed head injuries, and chemical dependency patients. She is currently the art therapist at the VA Medical Center. Holly is an instructor for the AATA Addictions Symposium team, and lectures on art therapy and addictions nationwide.
