Jo-Ann Snyder is Director of Field Experiences for the College. She is responsible for all field placements in schools. Students are placed for pre-student teaching and student teaching in over 45 metropolitan Detroit school districts. She interacts with a large number of people; students, faculty and school personnel.

Dr. Snyder was a teacher and administrator in the Detroit Public Schools before coming to Wayne State University in 1986. She is interested in better preparing urban teachers and has worked on numerous grants and research projects that seek to do this. Presently she is working with all new teachers in Highland Park Community Schools.

Dr. Snyder serves on the Michigan Professional Standards Commission for Teachers, is Executive Secretary for the Michigan Association of Teacher Educators, and is past president of the National Field Directors Forum of the Association of Teacher Educators.
