Course Description: This course is designed to familiarize students with online library searches, encourage their computing skills, including use of the Internet, and have them do a community project which may help them with their master's project.
 

Expected Outcomes of the Course (Objectives) are to have you:

Assignments (% is the part of your grade):

1. (15%) Complete the Library Scavenger Hunt by the 5th week of classes; after that it is 10%. This year (2008) the date is October 8th.

2. (50%) Successfully complete an urban, community based field project in collaboration with an organization and the consent of the instructor.

3. (25%) Verification of your experience via e-mail or snail mail of your experience by your supervisor(s).  This should include: 4. (10%)  Attendance at the sharing meeting during the last week of classes (see Class Schedule below).

5. (+5%) Attend a social studies conference or join a social studies organization (NCSS or MCSS) during this semester.

Evaluation & Grading: Each assignment will be evaluated on the quality of the work,  A=94-100, A-=90-93, B+=87-89, B=83-86, B-=80-82, C+=77-79, C=73-76 of a possible 100 points.  Assignments #1 & #3 may lose credit if late.  Both grades of A & B are considered worthy and respectable.  Be aware of the new grade policies as of Fall 2006.

Class Policies: Each student is expected to maintain contact with the instructor through your WSU e-mail.  Incomplete grades (I) may be given only for good reason and after consultation with the instructor.

Class Schedule: *There will be a of sharing your projects on Wednesday evening on the last day of classes (December 10, 2008) at a place and time to be determined. You will be notified of the details through your WSU e-mail.
