Rock-n-Roll
War WebQuest

Flower-power,
hippies, peace signs, sex, drugs, and rock-n-roll, were all
symbols
that marked the Vietnam Era. It was a
time
when the counter-culture was changing the American Society.
College
students were protesting, Jimmy Hendrix
was playing a controversial version of the National
Anthem at Woodstock, and young
soldiers were being sent home to his/her families in body bags.
The American Society was looking for a way to
express
their feelings,
beliefs,
and concerns. Military men and women were looking for motivation,
inspiration, and support. Music became that
release.
Today
we're takin' it back to the ol' school. You are a high school
student
in the early 1970s. The U.S is fully active
in
the Vietnam War and you have feelings and opinions. You will
research the music of the Vietnam era (1960s and 1970s) and then, with
your group
create your own song.
